“He is a reckless inspiration..it is almost surprising the prescision with which he understands how to talk ~into~ people instead of ~at~ people”.
Tonee has been a source of inspiration for teenagers, young professionals, middle-aged and senior citizens for more than 13 years. Whether in the context of an institution and company or church and social group, Tonee’s personal life experiences, mentor-ship and very close relationship his father have been pillars that framed him to bring immense weight and power through his subtle yet driven words. His in-ability to read consistently because of a reading challenge early in life led him to audio books; many many audio books.
He settled a long time ago on the fact that he had something he could do that a few others could.
Growing up in a city, he had all the perks. Boarding school at 9 yrs old, running away, private school, bullying, a stutter, terrible nightmares, rabbits and the occasional car accident. He never read well mostly because “I could not keep up with the words seemingly jumping out of my book”. He kept a few friends in his teen years. Not his choice. The up side, all he did was read..on and about people.
He knew he had a gift of inspiring people, so he read about them. As he grew, he got audio-books. Biographies, memoirs, articles, self-portraits. Soon he was astute on self development, motivation, neuro-linguistic training and motivation techniques, and many more.
Over a ten year period, he had about 500 talks, keynote addresses, training sessions, personal development interactive activities and motivational talks in his “have-done” list. High schools, classes, organizations, colleagues, peers, seniors and companies have all been honored opportunities for him to speak.
A double major in Journalism and International Relations, Tonee worked as an exchange student in Poland at 20, returned to work for UNHCR and East Africa Radio before turning 24. He built a youth foundation that hosted the very first Kenyan national youth empowerment conference by 26, created and was spear-heading a 12 country Leadership Expedition for African Development expedition at 28 and currently support a feeding program in Thika that feeds 9000 children a day. He is 31.
A tech-prenuer, his presence in social media, appearance in TED Talks in Nairobi, Amsterdam and Penn State University among other opportunities to speak as a technology professional are an avenue through which his reaches a larger audience. His goal in life..mastering the art of ‘keeping at it until it’s done’!
He started ToneeNdungu™ Consulting with a middle age, young professional and teenage target audience focusing on personal advancement with an emphasis on motivation and inner-inspired living.
